Pet health information online varies widely in quality and accuracy. Some of it is written by veterinary professionals. Much of it is not. When you are making decisions about your pet's health — whether choosing a supplement, recognizing symptoms, or deciding when to see the vet — the quality of the information you rely on matters.
That is why every piece of health content on Vetnique is reviewed and verified by a member of our Vet Advisory Board. We call it "vetted by a Vetnique vet," and it is our standard for ensuring that what you read here is medically accurate, practically useful, and safe to act on.
Why Vet-Verified Content Matters
The internet is full of pet health advice, but not all of it is reliable. Misinformation about pet health can lead to delayed treatment, inappropriate home remedies, unnecessary worry, or missed warning signs. The difference between reliable health content and unreliable content often comes down to one thing: whether a qualified veterinarian has reviewed it.
Vet-verified content means a licensed veterinarian has checked the information for medical accuracy before it reaches you. It means the advice is grounded in clinical experience and veterinary science — not anecdotal claims or outdated information. And it means you can trust what you are reading when you need it most: when your pet is showing symptoms and you are trying to figure out what to do next.
Our Vet Advisory Board does not just review content. They write it, contribute to how-to videos, participate in live Q&A sessions, and work directly on product development. Their expertise shapes everything we do at Vetnique — from the articles on our blog to the formulations in our products.
How Our Vet Advisory Board Works
Our Vet Advisory Board brings together veterinarians with complementary specialties — dermatology, anal gland health, holistic and integrative medicine, shelter medicine, and companion animal care. This means the content you read is not reviewed by a single generalist but by the veterinarian whose expertise is most relevant to the topic.
When we publish a guide on allergies in dogs, it is reviewed by a board-certified dermatologist. When we write about anal gland issues, it is reviewed by the veterinarian who created Glandex. When we cover topics like ear infections or hip and joint health, the reviewing veterinarian has direct clinical experience treating those conditions.
This is what "vetted by a Vetnique vet" means in practice: the right expertise applied to the right content, every time.
Meet Our Vet Advisory Board
Dr. James Bascharon
Veterinarian | Vetnique Founder & CEO | Creator of Glandex
Dr. Bascharon's veterinary journey started early — growing up as an exam room assistant to his veterinarian father, who treated neighborhood pets and built lasting relationships with local pet parents. That experience instilled a guiding principle that drives Vetnique today: treat pets as part of the family.
Years of clinical practice treating patients with anal gland problems led Dr. Bascharon to ask a simple question: how can we address this common problem for millions of pets? The answer became Glandex — a veterinarian-formulated digestive supplement designed to support healthy anal gland function. It took extensive research to develop the right combination of ingredients, but that commitment to getting it right became the foundation of Vetnique's product development philosophy.
More than a decade after launching Glandex, Dr. Bascharon continues to lead Vetnique with a science and research-driven, pet-first approach. He answers common pet parent questions on Instagram and actively contributes to our veterinary blog.
Dr. Adam Christman
Small Animal Veterinarian | Pet Disabilities Specialist | Shelter Medicine Practitioner
Dr. Christman is the Chief Veterinary Officer at Fetch dvm360, the nation's leading multimedia company in the veterinary profession. He is also the author of a book that helps pet parents learn the early signs and treatments for IVDD, a spinal disorder common in certain dog breeds like Dachshunds.
Dr. Christman is passionate about helping pet parents with pet disabilities and practices relief work in both shelter medicine and private practice. His focus on accessible veterinary education aligns directly with Vetnique's mission to make expert pet health knowledge available to every pet parent.
Dr. Joya Griffin
Veterinarian | Board-Certified Veterinary Dermatologist (DACVD)
Dr. Griffin is an Ohio native who graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has a special interest in fungal and immune-mediated skin diseases, as well as feline and equine dermatology. She strives to care for her patients as if they are her own pets and values building long-lasting relationships with pet parents.
Dr. Griffin also stars in the Nat Geo WILD television series "Pop Goes the Vet with Dr. Joya," which highlights the challenging and mysterious cases she encounters in veterinary dermatology. Her expertise is the foundation of our skin and allergy content, including guides on seasonal allergy treatments, ear infections, and how allergies relate to anal gland issues.
Dr. Patrick Mahaney
Veterinarian | Holistic House-Call Practitioner | Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist
Dr. Mahaney operates a concierge-style veterinary practice, California Pet Acupuncture and Wellness, where he provides personalized care in the comfort of his clients' homes. He builds long-term relationships with his patients and their families, and believes that effective health care providers must also practice what they preach when it comes to healthy living.
Dr. Mahaney is a certified veterinary acupuncturist and a certified veterinary journalist. His holistic approach to veterinary medicine — combining conventional treatment with integrative therapies — brings a unique perspective to the Vet Advisory Board. Many of his patients are older dogs dealing with arthritis and mobility challenges, making his partnership with Vetnique particularly valuable for our hip, joint, and senior pet content.
A Veterinarian-Founded Company
Vetnique is not a pet brand that added veterinarians as an afterthought. It was founded by a veterinarian, built on clinical experience, and continues to develop every product with veterinary science at the center of the process.
Our Vet Advisory Board is the extension of that foundation into our educational content. The same standard we apply to product formulation — evidence-based, clinically informed, and designed with your pet's health as the priority — is the same standard we apply to every article, guide, and video we publish.
Whether you are reading about why your dog is scooting, learning how to tell ear mites from ear wax, or figuring out when to start joint supplements, you can trust that a qualified veterinarian has reviewed the information before it reached you.
